Katherine Legge Set for NASCAR Cup Series Return at Las Vegas
Katherine Legge has announced her seventh NASCAR Cup Series start at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend with Live Fast Motorsports. Racing in her debut season, Legge will drive the No. 78 Desnuda Organic Tequila Chevrolet this weekend.
She is the sport’s second female driver to race in the Cup Series after Danica Patrick, whose last race was the 2018 Daytona 500. Based out of Guildford, England, Legge comes with an impressive motorsports background, having raced in IndyCar, IMSA, and Formula E.
Among her six Cup Series starts was NASCAR’s inaugural Cup Series race in Mexico City. Her last Cup race was at Watkins Glen International in August. The 45-year-old racer revealed in a press release that she was proud of her year so far. Legge said:
“I’m proud of how far we’ve come this season, gaining experience and speed at the pinnacle of stock car racing as a driver, as a team and with showcasing the Droplight brands like Desnuda. This car represents more than just a livery. It’s a statement of purpose and individuality. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the perfect place to showcase what Desnuda and I both stand for-real passion, hard work and the courage to stand out.”

Team owner BJ McLeod added:
“We’re honored to have Katherine back with us in the Desnuda car. Her talent and professionalism bring tremendous value to the team, and her leadership as a trailblazer continues to inspire both inside and outside of racing.”
Earlier this year, Legge secured a partnership with e.l.f. Cosmetics that backed her seven-race Xfinity campaign, and her return to the Cup Series in Mexico. The sponsorship proved to be a significant boost for her, given the setback she faced in her Cup Series debut at the Phoenix Raceway.
Legge said she wants to be respected as one of motorsport’s best drivers in a statement announcing her partnership with e.l.f. Cosmetics. She said:
“I’ve never felt more empowered than I do with e.l.f. by my side. e.l.f. truly walks the walk when it comes to putting its community — and especially women in sports — in the, pun-intended, driver’s seat. I’m thrilled to work towards achieving my racing goals with my e.l.f. team alongside Team Chevy.
“I want to be respected as one of the best drivers in motorsport, and there is no better place to hone my skillset against the best of the best in front of the largest motorsport audience in the U.S. With the pivot to go all in on NASCAR, we are diversifying my own racing legacy as well as the paddock for future generations.”
