Clearly, something had to change, and that major change was trading for Joe Flacco. Flacco was acquired from the Cleveland Browns, and is set to start against the Green Bay Packers. The issue is that Ja’Marr Chase has a questionable status heading into the game.

Chase was added to the injury report due to a mysterious illness, and now the team has received some major news on Chase.

Per multiple reports, Chase is trending towards playing despite dealing with an illness. This is a huge boost for Flacco, who will have his top receiver available for the important matchup.

Flacco reportedly impressed in practice, and the hope for the Bengals is that he can right his own wrongs in Cincinnati. Flacco was benched by the Browns in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Flacco has thrown six interceptions thus far in 2025, which is not much better than Browning. However, a change of scenery may help the veteran rebound.

As stated, the Bengals needed a change and the team is already 2-3 on the season. With a few more losses, they would likely miss the postseason for the fourth year in a row. The idea behind bringing in Flacco is to stop the bleeding while Burrow recovers.

Flacco may have struggled, but he is still a consummate pro. He will also have the benefit of having one of the best wide receiver tandems available. Chase is expected to play, and Tee Higgins is also available.

It will now be up to Flacco to play without turning the ball over, so the Bengals can stun the Packers.
