Tensions were naturally high for the New York Jets going into their Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos with a 0-5 record on the season. Unfortunately, these tensions reached a boiling point for star wide receiver Garrett Wilson at the end of the first half on Sunday.
In the first half, the Jets’ offense was as stagnant as they have been all season long, putting up just 32 yards of total offense. If it weren’t for a Broncos fumble and a kick return deep into Broncos territory, the Jets offense almost certainly would have been held scoreless in the half.
Despite the Jets’ offensive struggles, the team actually had a chance to go into the second half with a lead. With 37 seconds left in the second quarter, the Jets seemingly had a chance to attempt a Hail Mary that could have given the team a 13-10 lead going into the third quarter.

Instead, the Jets opted not to run a play entirely, letting the clock run down to zero and going into the half facing a 10-6 deficit. This was a puzzling decision considering the fact that there seemed to be little penalty in just attempting the Hail Mary to end the half.
Fans inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the NFL Network broadcast team, and nearly everyone watching at home were puzzled by the decision from Jets head coach Aaron Glenn not to run a play at the end of the half.
But Garrett Wilson had a far different reaction, instead lashing out at Glenn in what appeared to be a heated exchange between the two as they jogged into the locker room.

Some of the frustration from Wilson may very well have been tied to the fact that he had just two receiving yards on one reception through the first half.
Either way, given just how bad the Jets’ offense looked through two quarters, it’s easy to see why Wilson would be frustrated about wasting a potential scoring chance.
Not only could the Jets have gone into the second half with a lead if the Hail Mary attempt had been caught. But it could have given the lifeless offense some much-needed momentum going into the third quarter.
It will be interesting to see what Wilson has to say about this sideline interaction with Glenn after the game. But clearly, the Jets’ struggles offensively appear to be getting to Wilson in a major way.
