IDF Fires at Gazans ‘Who Crossed the Yellow Line’ During Ceasefire
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had opened fire on a group of people who it claimed had approached them in northern Gaza on Tuesday in violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The IDF said the individuals had crossed the “Yellow Line” in Gaza behind which they had retreated under the first phase of the ceasefire deal with Hamas.
The incident highlights the tense and fragile nature of the ceasefire deal, which is part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s historic 20-point peace plan for Gaza and the Middle East. These moments will test the durability of the ceasefire and, ultimately, the viability of Trump’s plan.
In a statement shared on Telegram, an IDF spokesperson said that “a number of suspects were identified who crossed the Yellow Line and approached IDF forces operating in the northern Gaza Strip, which constitutes a violation of the agreement.”
“Attempts were made to remove the suspects. The suspects did not respond and continued to approach the forces, and the forces fired to remove the threat,” the IDF spokesperson said.
“The reports about terrorists infiltrating the defense are not true. The IDF calls on the residents of Gaza to obey the IDF’s instructions and not to approach the forces deployed in the area.”
This is a breaking news story. Updates to follow.
