Fan-Favorite WWE Star Sidelined With Major Injury
Jacob Fatu’s recent return to WWE television may be short-lived. After making his presence felt on the September 26 episode of SmackDown, new details suggest the “Samoan Werewolf” could be on the shelf for a significant amount of time.
A new report from BodySlam.net has revealed that Fatu is currently dealing with a non-wrestling-related injury. According to sources close to the situation, the issue is serious enough that it could potentially sideline him “well into 2026.”
This news provides context to earlier speculation that began when CodyWhodes, also of BodySlam, posted a cryptic message on social media. The post included a GIF of Fatu with the text, “The bug strikes another,” hinting that an issue had arisen.

At the time of that post, WWE was still promoting a match between Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre for the October 17 episode of SmackDown. The two had ignited a feud with a chaotic brawl on the October 10 broadcast, setting the stage for a major showdown.
Despite that scheduled bout, the new backstage report indicates that Fatu’s injury has forced WWE to quietly change its plans. While there has been no official comment from the company, it appears Fatu’s absence could now stretch for many months.
This is a major setback for both Fatu and the SmackDown brand. His explosive in-ring style, menacing presence, and deep family ties to The Bloodline storyline had him positioned as a major breakout star for the company’s future.
The injury immediately impacts tomorrow night’s episode of SmackDown, leaving Drew McIntyre without a scheduled opponent.
