Chris Jones Pushing Chiefs to Make One Specific Trade
The Kansas City Chiefs looked the part of a Super Bowl contender once again last week in a dominant Sunday Night Football win over the Detroit Lions. After a sluggish start to the season, Patrick Mahomes and company are looking to get back on track.
So far this season, the Chiefs have compiled a 3-3 record. There is a lot of work to be done. Perhaps the team will even look to improve the roster ahead of the upcoming NFL trade deadline.
On the outside looking in, there are a few areas that the team could use help. Kansas City could use help in the running game. Also, some help on the defensive front would be wise to target.

To that end, star defensive tackle Chris Jones has made it very clear who he would like to see the Chiefs pursue in a trade.
During a press appearance, Jones openly stated that he would like to see Kansas City bring back current Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Mike Pennel.
“Hopefully, life goes full circle when we get my guy back,” Jones said. “Mike Pennel is a heck of a locker-room guy. And so many things I can say about my brother. We got to get my brother back.”
Pennel was released by the Chiefs back on August 26 before the season as part of their roster cutdown. He quickly joined the Bengals’ practice squad and has appeared in all seven games for Cincinnati since then in the regular season.
In the seven games he has played with the Bengals, Pennel has racked up 15 total tackles.
Last season in Kansas City, Pennel made a solid impact. He played in all 17 regular season games, totaling 25 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble.

No one would go as far as to call Pennel a “star,” but he’s a quality role player. He fit perfectly in the Chiefs’ locker room and was capable of playing a role. Kansas City could consider bolstering its defensive line by acquiring him if he is made available.
Jones openly calling for a trade for a specific player is not something that happens very often. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs try to accommodate their defensive superstar ahead of the deadline.
