Packers Elevate RB After Concerning Josh Jacobs Update Surfaces
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is questionable to take the field for Sunday’s Week 7 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals as he continues to deal with the illness he played through in Week 6.
Jacobs was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He was upgraded to full participation on Friday, but picked up a calf injury designation on the Packers’ final Week 7 report.
On Saturday, the Packers elevated running back Pierre Strong Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster.
If Jacobs is unable to go on Sunday, Strong will serve as a reserve running back option behind Emanuel Wilson Jr. and Chris Brooks.
“Packers elevated RB Pierre Strong Jr. from their practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game at Arizona. Packers CB Keisean Nixon also has been added to the injury report and is questionable for Sunday’s game due to illness,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday.

Jacobs overcame his illness and put forth a masterful performance in last Sunday’s Week 6 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. The veteran RB also caught five passes for 57 yards in the 27-18 victory.
When speaking to reporters after this performance, Jacobs revealed that he was throwing up before and during the game.
“I just kind of woke up this morning just not feeling my best,” Jacobs said. “But I told ’em, ‘The last time that I felt that way, I had 130 [yards] and two touchdowns.’ So, it is what it is.”

Jacobs has been solid through the first five games of his seventh NFL season, rushing for 359 yards and six touchdowns. He’s accounted for the vast majority of the Packers’ work on the ground, with the next leader rusher being quarterback Jordan Love (88 yards).
Sunday’s matchup against the Cardinals will kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET.
