A surprising moment unfolded following a marquee championship match at “AEW WrestleDream 2025.” After “Hangman” Adam Page successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe, the titleholder was looking to embrace the fallen challenger. Instead, he was attacked by Joe and his faction, The Opps.
Joe raised Page’s arm before dropping him with a clothesline. Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata then stomped on “Hangman.” The heel turn was capped off when Joe nailed Page with the AEW World Championship and then delivered a Muscle Buster.

Samoa Joe’s Next Move
Joe’s post-match attack on Page, who will now surpass 100 days in his current title reign, likely means he isn’t done pursuing the top male prize in AEW. “The Samoan Submission Machine” once held the AEW World Championship, defeating MJF for the gold at “Worlds End 2023.” Joe reigned for 113 days before losing the title to Swerve Strickland at “Dynasty 2024.”
The Opps currently hold the AEW World Trios Championship. During the “WrestleDream” pay-per-view, Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, and MVP of The Hurt Syndicate defeated The Demand to earn a shot at the trios gold. Joe, Hobbs, and Shibata will put their gold on the line against The Hurt Syndicate on Wednesday’s episode of “Dynamite.”
Whether or not Page interferes in the match as retaliation remains to be seen. AEW will begin promotion for its next PPV event, which will be “Full Gear” on Nov. 22. A rematch between Page and Joe might be in play for the show given the aftermath of “WrestleDream,” but that remains to be seen.
