Travis Kelce Makes Bold Patrick Mahomes Declaration After Chiefs’ Blowout Win
The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be back.
Over the last two weeks, they’ve been firing on all cylinders, and Sunday’s dominant 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders was the latest example, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes completed 26 of his 35 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those scores went to wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was playing in his first game back after serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Following the win, veteran tight end Travis Kelce, who hauled in three catches for 54 yards, made a bold declaration about what Mahomes continues to do, as the two-time MVP looks to be firmly in the race once again through seven games.
“He’s just always gonna make sure he’s doing what he can to get better,” Kelce said postgame. “That’s why I love playing with him, that’s why this team’s gonna keep getting better throughout the year — because we all kind of have that mentality. Day in and day out, week in and week out… it’s one of those things where you see Pat doing it, and that sets the tempo. It blows me away how good that guy can be and how prepared he always is.”

Drafted by the Chiefs in 2013, Kelce is now in his 13th NFL season. He’s been alongside Mahomes for the entirety of the quarterback’s professional journey — from when Mahomes was selected in the first round out of Texas Tech in 2017, to spending his rookie year backing up veteran Alex Smith, and then bursting onto the scene as a second-year pro.
Together, the duo has won three Lombardi Trophies, reached five Super Bowls, appeared in the AFC Championship Game every year since Mahomes became the starter in 2018, and led Kansas City to nine consecutive AFC West titles.
The Chiefs are set to face the Washington Commanders in Week 8 on “Monday Night Football” at Arrowhead Stadium, before heading into an epic Week 9 showdown against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 2 — a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game.
