The Dallas Cowboys have made some questionable decisions over the past few years with contract situations, most notably with Micah Parsons. Instead of giving the All-Pro edge rusher what he was looking for, the Cowboys decided to play games and eventually had to trade him, moving him to the Green Bay Packers before they gave him a historic contract.

That wasn’t the first time for the Cowboys, and it likely won’t be the last, but they have an upcoming contract situation that should be resolved sooner rather than later, unless they’re content with George Pickens leaving.
There are a few things to consider about the Cowboys giving Pickens the money he wants, but they also paid CeeDee Lamb $136 million for four seasons in August of 2024, so having two expensive wide receivers on the roster might not be ideal.
According to Nick Eatman of the Cowboys’ official team site, it’s also possible that Pickens will get more money than Lamb did.
“And yes, Pickens is represented by the same agency as Micah Parsons, but that doesn’t mean it will be the same situation. But just remember this, if you try to sign a player early, any agent is going to project the rest of the season. Right now, you’re looking at Pickens catching around 75 passes for 1300 yards and about 12 TDs – that’s just a projection for the rest of the season. What else would an agent have to use? So that being said, it’s not going to be cheap right now either.
“And the problem is, the money you have to give Pickens might be more than CeeDee’s current contract and you know that won’t go over that well,” he wrote.

If the Cowboys have to give Pickens more money than Lamb, which might not be the most outrageous thing to say because of where the market stands now, it might be a better idea to allow him to leave.
While he’s played great, it’d be tough to justify paying nearly $300 million to two wide receivers.
