Steelers Under Fire for Jersey Choice Against Packers
The 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers are set to look a little different in Week 8 when they take on the 4-1-1 Green Bay Packers on “Sunday Night Football.”

With a huge number of eyeballs expected to watch Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers play against his former team at Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh decided to showcase its throwback uniforms from 1933, the founding year of the franchise.

Here’s a description of the uniform via the Steelers’ website:
“The gold throwback jersey features black stripes, with large white block letters trimmed in black on the front. The front will also prominently feature the City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder to honor the team’s connection to the city, while on the back of the jersey are large black block numbers.
The helmet features a gold matte finish with a gray facemask and a black stripe down the middle, while the players will complete the look with beige uniform pants.”
The final result looks quite bold:
NFL fans on social media had strong comments on the uniforms during Pittsburgh’s pregame warmup. Many comments were harsh on the look, believing that part of the team’s history should be left in the past.
“This is disgraceful, what are they doing with these uniforms? They are a horrible look,” wrote a fan.
“If you’re the Pittsburgh Steelers, why would you ever wear these? Like, ever?” asked a fan. “You have one of the toughest looking unis in all of North American sports and you come out looking like road construction.”
“The Steelers jerseys are much worse than I thought oof,” commented Cameron Ezeir of WFRV.
“These are actually so bad,” posted another.
“Football fans watching on the TV today have gone from watching the Broncos, the best throwback uni in the NFL to this monstrosity that the Steelers are wearing,” argued a poster.
“They need to forever retire these,” suggested a fan.
“Steelers uniform look horrible but as long as they beat the packers they can wear whatever they want,” wrote another.
How the Steelers play in the uniform is more important than the aesthetic. Because of the Cincinnati Bengals’ loss to the New York Jets earlier on Sunday, Pittsburgh has a chance to take a 2.5-game lead in the AFC North with a win over Green Bay.
