Former WWE Star Throws Shade at Brock Lesnar During MLW Show
The well-documented heat between Matt Riddle and Brock Lesnar persists, largely fueled by Riddle’s public comments directed at the former UFC fighter and multi-time WWE Champion. Whether this animosity is genuine or simply Riddle attempting to generate buzz for a potential match remains unclear. However, Riddle has once again brought Lesnar’s name into the conversation during a recent Major League Wrestling (MLW) event.
While confronting MLW’s authority figure, Cesar Duran, Riddle expressed frustration over not receiving an immediate title opportunity. During the segment, Riddle took a direct shot at both Duran and Lesnar.
“What’s up with everything, bro? How come I’m not getting a title shot immediately? I already beat like half the roster, and I’m still playing your games. Dude, your matchmaking is worse than Brock Lesnar, bro.”
This comment adds another chapter to the ongoing saga between Riddle and Lesnar, which reportedly includes a backstage confrontation initiated by Lesnar years ago where he told Riddle to stop mentioning his name publicly. Riddle, who is 39 years old, has often been described as hindering his own career despite possessing considerable talent in both mixed martial arts and professional wrestling. His UFC career ended following failed drug tests, and his WWE tenure also concluded amidst various controversies.

Adding to his reputation for unprofessionalism, Riddle recently made comments about missing independent wrestling bookings, further drawing criticism. He dismissively stated, “If I miss 5 shows out of 100 in a year, eat it. I don’t care.” This apparent disregard for his commitments surprised many, including some of his dedicated fans. Despite these issues, Riddle’s name recognition continues to secure him bookings on the independent circuit and with promotions like MLW, even as a return to WWE seems increasingly unlikely.
Since joining MLW, Riddle has been embroiled in Cesar Duran’s Azteca Lucha storylines. Riddle recently competed at MLW War Chamber II on March 29th, defeating Bad Dude Tito. He also participated in the Battle RIOT VI match on June 1st. While not currently scheduled for MLW’s next major event, Slaughterhouse on October 26th in Illinois, his ongoing interactions with Duran suggest his quest for championship gold, potentially the MLW World Heavyweight Championship held by Satoshi Kojima, will continue within the promotion, possibly leading to a match at MLW Fightland on November 9th.
