LSU Fires Another Coach After Brian Kelly Decision
The LSU Tigers athletic director Scott Woodward announced on Sunday the team fired head coach Brian Kelly following the team’s 49-25 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies.
“We had high hopes that he would lead us to multiple SEC and national championships during his time in Baton Rouge,” he said in a statement. “Ultimately, the success at the level that LSU demands simply did not materialize, and I made the decision to make a change after last night’s game.
“I am grateful for the ongoing consultations and support of the LSU board of supervisors and Interim President Matt Lee in this decision. We wish Coach Kelly and his family the very best in their future endeavors. We will continue to negotiate his separation and will work toward a path that is better for both parties.”

Fewer than 24 hours later, the Tigers announced another top coach has been relieved of his job. The team fired offensive coordinator Joe Sloan after he led the No. 14 offense in the SEC and the No. 12 scoring offense in the conference.
“Joe Sloan has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on the LSU football team the school announced on Monday,” a statement from the team read.
Former Florida State offensive coordinator and current LSU tight ends coach Alex Atkins is set to take over as the play-caller for the rest of the season.
LSU won its first four games of the season and sat at No. 4 in the nation before losing three of its last four games – all against ranked opponents. The Tigers will get this weekend off before a massive rivalry game against No. 4 Alabama.
