Giants Linked to Surprising College Coach as Brian Daboll Replacement

The New York Giants have struggled through another disappointing season thus far in 2025. Despite higher expectations coming into the season, Brian Daboll and company have not been able to pick up wins on the field.

At this point in the year entering Week 10, the Giants hold a 2-7 record. Thankfully, there are some reasons for optimism.

Jaxson Dart has taken over as the team’s franchise quarterback. He has looked sharp, completing 62.3 percent of his pass attempts for 1,175 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions, while also running for 251 yards and five scores. Cam Skattebo looked like a rising star as well before suffering a gruesome ankle injury.

That being said, there are still questions about the team’s head coaching situation. Daboll is currently on a warm seat and his future is still a bit murky in New York.

Brian Daboll, New York Giants

Should the Giants choose to move on from Daboll, the question about who could replace him remains. Quite a few potential names have been mentioned as possible options.

Ed Valentine of SB Nation has come up with a very intriguing suggestion. He thinks that current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin might make sense for New York.

“The only current college head coach on my list, and an OBVIOUS candidate,” Valentine wrote. “You want a head coach who you know can help Jaxson Dart continue his upward arc as an NFL quarterback? How about the guy who helped him become a college quarterback worthy of being a first-round pick? That’s Kiffin, a guy known for his ability as an offensive coach.”

Kiffin has put together an impressive college coaching career. He has gone 52-19 since taking over the Ole Miss job back in 2020. Currently, he is one of the hottest head coaching candidates in the college ranks for big-time jobs that have opened up.

Could he be interested in making the jump to the NFL? That remains to be seen, but he’s worth considering.

If the Giants do choose to part ways with Daboll and Kiffin is interested in listening, the team should place a call. He could be exactly the head coach New York needs to get back into the mix of playoff contention.

Expect to continue hearing rumblings and speculation about the future for the Giants. Daboll is far from a guarantee to be back next season.
