In a viral TikTok video, a farm owner doesn’t plan on keeping any of her cat’s kittens—but her Great Pyrenees doesn’t agree with her decision.
The heartwarming clip, shared on Sunday under the username @a.rachelle1022, shows the pup lying down on the floor, hugging all of the kittens as the cat mom lies next to him, giving his owner the side-eye as she tries to take them away.
“POV [point of view]: you say you aren’t keeping any kittens but the guard dog has other plans,” the caption says. “Excuse me for interrupting!”
While cats and dogs have a reputation for being each other’s worst enemy, they can actually live together peacefully, and even become best of friends.
A study, carried out by Italian scientists and published in 2020 in the journal PLOS ONE, surveyed 1,270 pet owners who own both a cat and a dog and found that the two species can easily cohabitate without much conflict.
Findings from the study also showed that over 64 percent of the felines and canines living together played together; 58 percent chased each other; and 41 percent fought. Almost two-thirds of the pets sometimes playfully “ambushed” each other.
While most dogs can be trained to live with cats, some breeds are much better suited for feline companionship than other breeds. These include, according to Vetster, basset hounds, beagles, Cavalier King Charles spaniels, collies, golden retrievers, Labrador retrievers, Maltese, papillons, poodles, and mixed-breed pups.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 4 million views and more than 806,800 likes on the platform.
One user, Bibi, commented: “Take this kitten from me and the world will burn’—the dog probably.”
Angelika added: “This is why the Great Pyrenees is one of my favorite dog breeds. I’ve never met one that wasn’t a gigantic scooch monster. These big sweetie pies are all Falkor [a doglike dragon from the movie The NeverEnding Story] to me.”
