Winter storm warning live updates: High winds, heavy snow expected in California
A series of weather alerts stretched across California early Thursday as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned that an atmospheric river will bring strong winds and heavy rainfall through the second half of the week.
The agency noted that the Sierra Nevada may see heavy snowfall, while parts of the state could face flooding and wind damage.
- Winter storm warnings span Mono County, as well as the Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park to Tulare County.
- A winter weather advisories have been issued for the Greater Lake Tahoe area and the Sierra slopes.
- Flood watches are in place for portions of central California due to the threat of excessive rainfall.
