Nikki Bella Breaks Silence on ‘Gross’ Chants From WWE Fans in Boston

Earlier this week, Nikki Bella surprised the WWE Women’s Champion, Stephanie Vaquer, with a shocking heel turn in the ring. The Hall of Fame superstar had previously aligned herself with the champ and accompanied her on “Monday Night Raw” to support her during a championship defense.

Nikki took care of Roxanne Perez outside the ring when she tried to interfere in the match, and Stephanie was ultimately able to retain her title against challenger Raquel Rodriguez. However, moments later, Nikki pretended to celebrate with Stephanie in the ring, only to suddenly clock her with the championship belt.

Following that surprise, Nikki boldly left the ring and walked up the ramp, showing that she’d officially returned to her heelish persona from years ago. WWE fans previously saw her in a similar situation when she turned on her own sister, fellow Hall of Famer Brie Bella, years ago.

Depending on the venue, WWE fans can unleash some brutal chants during Raw, SmackDown, or the premium live events. That occurred during “Monday Night Raw” in Boston as Nikki exited the ring and walked up the ramp, with fans chanting “Cena left you.”

John Cena dated Nikki for about five years, and they got engaged in 2017, when Cena proposed following the couple’s tag team match at WrestleMania. However, they ended the engagement the following year.

Nikki seemed to find love after Cena, marrying her “Dancing With the Stars” professional dance partner, Artem Chigvintsev. Still, that relationship became tumultuous, including an arrest, a divorce, both parties seeking restraining orders, and Nikki’s attempt to gain full custody of their child.

That occurred while she was seemingly retired from her WWE in-ring career. Still, earlier this year, she made a surprise return at the Women’s Royal Rumble match and has continued to appear in several prominent matches or storylines. The latest involves her friendship with Stephanie Vaquer, which formed weeks ago and led to Nikki’s heel turn earlier this week on Raw.

During a recent episode of the “Nikki and Brie” podcast on YouTube, Nikki mentioned the fans chanting at her in Boston after she turned heel, and how various people she works with who have “credibility” are starting to stick up for her online.

“I think now people are kind of like, the hate is so gross. Like, even some of the chants that I got last night, like it’s the same,” she said, adding, “Honestly, I think they got picked up more on TV or I was just too in my moment that I didn’t even know, that I didn’t even hear it.”

“But Boston, I mean, Boston is an amazing crowd. It was so fun,” Nikki said, adding, “It’s nice for these people with credibility that are speaking up, because I think at the end of the day they all know how much I love this business, how much passion I have for wrestling. They know the work I put in.”

She mentioned how Big E recently supported her during his remarks on a Raw recap following the show in Boston. Nikki also says she knows what she can do and what her value is as a WWE superstar.

“I know what my worth is, and you’ll start to hear it a lot more. So you’ll wait for Monday for that,” she said, teasing a promo likely to happen on the next episode of Raw.
