Donald Trump reacts to Ted Cruz presidential run rumors
President Donald Trump has reacted to rumors that Texas Senator Ted Cruz is considering a presidential run in the 2028 election.
Axios reported on Monday that Cruz was laying the groundwork for a future presidential run. But Cruz has not launched a formal bid and has insisted he is focused on representing Texans. “Reporters are going to write headlines that get clicks and get eyeballs,” he told Fox News on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Trump said he was not “surprised” by the rumors, and called Cruz “a very good guy” and “a very good friend of mine.”
Newsweek reached out to the White House and Cruz’s representatives by email for comment outside of normal business hours.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
