Giants’ Cam Skattebo Responds to Backlash Over Recent Public Appearance
New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome, season-ending ankle injury in a Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, ending what was an electrifying debut campaign for the former Arizona State standout.
NFL fans won’t get to see Skattebo take the field until the 2026 NFL season, but the 23-year-old running back did make a public appearance in New York on Monday night.
Skattebo was ringside for WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” at Madison Square Garden, where he got into a trash-talking match with the Judgment Day trio. A scuffle broke out after the Giants rookie shoved JD McDonagh to the ground.

This viral clip sparked some backlash from NFL fans, who questioned Skattebo’s commitment to his recovery process.
“WTF is Cam doing? Where is his agent? Can someone close to him with a head on their shoulders step in and remind him of his multi-million dollar career,” one fan wrote.
“Yeah I’m sure Giants management is really tickled with him doing that,” another added.
“Not a good look for a guy on IR,” another said.

Skattebo heard this criticism and responded with a fiery message on social media.
“Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say,” he wrote on X.

Before suffering his season-ending injury, Skattebo was one of the league’s brightest rookie stars. Through his first eight game appearances, the fourth-round draft pick recorded 410 rushing yards, five rushing touchdowns, 207 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
The 2-9 Giants will face off against the Detroit Lions in a Week 12 matchup this coming Sunday.
