Will Donald Trump veto Epstein files bill? Mike Johnson raises possibility
House Speaker Mike Johnson has raised the possibility that President Donald Trump could veto a bill requiring the Justice Department to release of files on the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The Epstein Files Transparency Act will head to Trump’s desk for his signature after the House and Senate both voted on Tuesday to publicly release the files. Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
While Trump has indicated he will sign the legislation, Johnson told reporters he was “deeply disappointed” that the Senate passed the bill without making amendments, and that he and Trump “have concerns” about the bill.
When asked if Trump would veto the bill, Johnson said: “I’m not saying that, I don’t know.”

This is a developing story. More to follow.
