Last week, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman was benched for tardiness. It marked the third time within a month that Coleman had been punished by the Bills, and it seems clear that Buffalo still isn’t over it.
Why? Because the Bills are reportedly making him a healthy scratch before their Thursday night matchup against the Houston Texans, via ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.

Coleman was expected by some to take on the role of Buffalo’s No. 1 receiver this season, but that certainly has not happened. The second-year pass-catcher has logged just 32 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns in nine games, averaging a pedestrian 10.3 yards per catch.
Last season, Coleman snared 29 balls for 556 yards and four scores, posting a hefty 19.2 yards per grab. Obviously, his explosiveness has dipped tremendously in 2025, and his future in Buffalo is becoming more and more cloudy.
The Bills selected Coleman with the 33rd pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, passing on Ladd McConkey to do so. Buffalo surely regrets that now seeing how well McConkey has played with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Coleman began his collegiate career at Michigan State and spent two seasons with the Spartans before transferring to Florida State ahead of 2023. He hauled in 50 receptions for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns during his lone campaign with the Seminoles, leading the ACC in the latter category.
There is no question that Coleman has talent, but he has yet to show it on a consistent basis. That’s thanks much in part to Coleman’s negligence, but even when he has been on the field, he has been inconsistent.

The Bills opted not to swing a trade for another receiver at the trade deadline, which could ultimately derail their Super Bowl chances this season. They did get a surprise performance from Tyrell Shavers last week, and Gabe Davis is now back in the fold, but it’s clear that Buffalo does not have a No. 1 receiver.
The Bills are 7-3 on the year and are one-and-a-half games behind the New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East.
