Phillies MVP Candidate Projected To Sign Huge 4-Year, $120 Million Contract
The Philadelphia Phillies have two huge free agents this offseason. Starting pitcher Ranger Suárez is one of the best pitchers on the market this winter, and it seems like the Phillies are content with letting him leave.
But the Phillies can’t afford to lose Kyle Schwarber this winter. And Schwarber is projected to land a huge contract, which could complicate things for the Phillies.
Zach Mentz of Cleveland.com recently projected Schwarber would sign a massive four-year, $120 million deal in free agency this winter.

“Schwarber blasted a career-high 56 home runs this season, which led the National League, and a career-high 132 RBI, which led all of MLB,” Mentz wrote. “The lefty masher is going to get paid. Would Philly really let Schwarber walk? He’ll have plenty of interested suitors.”
Besides the Phillies, the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox make sense as fits for the slugger.
The Reds are Schwarber’s hometown team. Schwarber has seemingly voiced his willingness to sign with the Reds if the money is right, but Cincinnati’s front office doesn’t offer contracts of this magnitude.
The Cubs are likely going to lose Kyle Tucker in free agency, so signing Schwarber as his replacement in the lineup would work. Schwarber doesn’t play outfield, but he’s one of the best sluggers in the league.
The Red Sox could slide Schwarber in as their designated hitter if they want to close the gap on the top teams in the American League.
