Chiefs Get Major Patrick Mahomes Boost Before Cowboys Game
The Kansas City Chiefs are primed for a highly-anticipated Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.
This holiday clash pits two of the NFL’s biggest brands against each other, making for what will no doubt be one of the most-watched regular-season games in recent memory.
Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes started the week on Kansas City’s injury report with a groin issue. But after notching full practice participation throughout the week, he was officially removed from the injury report on Wednesday afternoon.
Mahomes, running back Isiah Pacheco (knee), wide receiver Rashee Rice (hamstring) and wide receiver Xavier Worthy (ankle) are all full go for Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Cowboys.
Starting offensive lineman Trey Smith was officially ruled out with an ankle injury.

Mahomes is in the midst of yet another impressive campaign at the quarterback position, completing 64.4% of his pass attempts for 2,977 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. In Week 12’s overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts, the 30-year-old QB threw for 352 yards.
This past Sunday’s win over the Colts stopped a two-game losing streak for Mahomes and the Chiefs, who are now 6-5 on the 2025 NFL season. The 5-5-1 Cowboys are also trending in the right direction, winning each of their last two games after losing two straight.

Mahomes discussed the challenge of playing against an improved Dallas defense when speaking with reporters on Wednesday.
“Obviously, they’ve been in the scheme a little bit longer and then they’ve added players, they’ve also gotten players healthy,” Mahomes said. “You see that they’re playing at a higher level than they were playing at the beginning of the year. That comes with being more comfortable with the scheme that you’re in. They’re coached really well by Coach Eberflus. They fly around to the football and they’re kind of in the same situation as us, it’s kind of all on the line. You have to go out there every single week and play your best football. And they’ve responded these last few weeks and played really good football, so it will be a great challenge for us.”
Thursday’s game will kickoff at 4:30 p.m. ET.
