Former WWE Champion Signs AEW Contract
AEW has reportedly signed a former WWE titleholder. Fightful reports that Lacey Lane, who was known as Kayden Carter during her time with WWE, has signed a deal with AEW. The news comes just one month after Lane performed on the “Title Tuesday” edition of “AEW Dynamite.”
During that episode, Lane challenged Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship in a losing effort. At the time, AEW reportedly was pleased with Lane, but there wasn’t any word on whether or not a full-time deal was in the works.

Lacey Lane’s Time in WWE
Lane made her WWE debut back in 2018. She was featured in the Mae Young Classic and was eliminated by Meiko Satomura in the quarterfinals. Lane then became a member of the “NXT” roster.
WWE eventually paired Lane and Katana Chance as a top tag team on the developmental brand. During the Aug. 2, 2022 episode of “NXT,” Lane and Chance defeated Toxic Attraction, Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley, and Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz to become the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
For the first time in their professional wrestling careers, Lane and Chance were sent to the main roster in the 2023 WWE draft. The team was featured on the “Monday Night Raw” brand. Lane and Chance captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship during the Dec. 18, 2023 episode of “WWE Raw,” defeating Chelsea Green and Piper Niven.
Despite being sent to the “WWE SmackDown” roster, Lane and Chance were released from the company back in May. Lane appeared during the Sept. 25 episode of Ring of Honor before her aforementioned match on “AEW Dynamite.”
