Arizona State improved to 6-2 in the Big 12 with a 42-17 road victory at Colorado on Saturday night. The Sun Devils took the lead for good when Jeff Sims hit Derek Eusebio with a short pass that turned into a 68-yard touchdown to cap their first possession of the second half, and pulled away with three fourth-quarter TDs. Raleek Brown rumbled for 255 yards and a score on 22 carries and also caught a touchdown pass, with Kanye Udoh and Jason Brown Jr. also getting rushing touchdowns while Sims threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
Arizona put its 41-17 victory over visiting Baylor away on Saturday with three fourth-quarter touchdowns after trailing 17-14 at the half. Kedrick Reescano ran for three touchdowns, Ismail Mahdi picked up 93 yards and a score on 14 carries, and Noah Fifita threw for 183 yards and a touchdown. Jabari Mann capped the scoring with a 34-yard pick-six in the fourth period, and Kris Hutson finished with nine receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats won their fourth straight game.
The Sun Devils need a win and significant help to get to the Big 12 title game. They get in with a UCF upset at BYU and a loss by Utah at Kansas, or with losses by Texas Tech at West Virginia and by BYU combined with a Utah win. Finally, a BYU victory coupled with losses by Texas Tech and Utah secures a spot. Arizona State won last year’s Territorial Cup 49-7 at Arizona, which leads the series 51-46-1.
