Top WWE Star is Considering Major Appearance Change
For nearly a decade, AJ Styles has been instantly recognizable to WWE fans by his shoulder-length hair. However, “The Phenomenal One” has revealed that this signature look will not survive his retirement from professional wrestling. Speaking with Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Styles disclosed that significant changes to his appearance are inevitable once he hangs up his boots.
Styles, who debuted in WWE in January 2016, admitted that he does not intend to maintain his current hairstyle in his post-wrestling life. In fact, he is considering removing it entirely to avoid the awkward stages of growing it back out.
“When retirement does finally come, that will be the first thing that goes is probably the hair. I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking about a full shave. Just go, completely gone, all of it,” Styles said (H/T to WrestlingNews.co).
While the “full shave” is reserved for his eventual retirement, Styles noted that a trim might happen much sooner. He explained that his wife, Wendy Jones, has become increasingly vocal about her dissatisfaction with his current hair length.

“According to my wife, it’s gonna be cut soon, like it’s getting way too long, and she doesn’t like it. So she’s like, repeatedly telling me, I’m gonna have to cut a couple inches off. Not cut it all off now,” Styles said.

During the interview, Styles also reflected on the evolution of his look, acknowledging the fan monikers that have followed him throughout his career. He referred to his early TNA Wrestling days as the “Emo AJ Styles” era, characterized by the short, swooped bangs popular in the early 2000s.
He also addressed the “Soccer Mom AJ Styles” nickname given to him by social media users during his early WWE run, when his layered, medium-length hair drew comparisons to a stereotypical suburban hairstyle.
