Lakers Could Land Giannis in Blockbuster Multi-Player Deal
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s time with the Milwaukee Bucks could be coming to an end.
The two-time MVP could be dealt sometime this season after he removed all references to the team from his Instagram and Twitter accounts. The trade rumors regarding Antetokounmpo have resurfaced after a summer filled with rumors and speculation.
That is back at the forefront, which means the trade proposals are flying off the shelves. This latest trade proposal from Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report has the Los Angeles Lakers landing the Greek Freak.
This particular proposal sees Antetokounmpo moved to LA for five key role players and then some.

Los Angeles Lakers get: Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks get: Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber, Dalton Knecht, first-round pick swaps in 2026, 2028, 2030 and 2032 and a 2031 first-round pick
“Plenty of readers may see this deal and immediately think: “Bucks aren’t doing that without getting Austin Reaves!” And that may well be the case, but Reaves is going to be a free agent in 2026 and might not be too excited about re-signing with a suddenly rebuilding team.
“What this deal lacks in star power headed back to Milwaukee, it largely makes up for in draft capital. No, pick swaps aren’t as valuable as unprotected firsts, but that does give the Bucks some hope. And by 2031, when Giannis is near 40, a first-rounder from the Lakers could be worth a lot.
“On top of that, there is a lot of movable salary here that Milwaukee could later repurpose in other trades. And while Dalton Knecht doesn’t look like a game-changing prospect, he does give the Bucks a bit of young talent for the next era.
“On the other side of the deal, though it would certainly take some time for everyone to figure out how to play together, there really isn’t much explanation necessary.
“Having Luka Dončić, Giannis, Reaves and LeBron James on the same team could give L.A. some of the most playmaking-rich lineups we’ve ever seen. And with Luka to create far more open looks than Giannis is used to, his already ridiculous scoring efficiency could climb even higher.”

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Sure, this may not be the best package for the nine-time All-Star; however, the Bucks could pull the trigger on this type of trade. As Bailey mentioned, the Bucks could see this trade work in their favor as LA would have an older Antetokounmpo on their team who has already dealt with injuries in his early 30s.
The Lakers’ potentially adding Antetokounmpo is also a gamble. His current contract includes a player option for the 2027-28 season. If Antetokounmpo were traded to Los Angeles, the Lakers would have him under team control for at least a season and a half, barring an extension beforehand.
While LA may not be the frontrunner to land Antetokounmpo, the Lakers’ track record of acquiring superstars means they can never be fully counted out.
