Dodgers Interested In Bringing Back 34-Year-Old Veteran: Report
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed their first free agent of the offseason earlier this week.
Los Angeles signed World Series hero Miguel Rojas to a one-year contract, which is expected to be his last season before retiring. Rojas may not be the only player who will end up returning to the Dodgers in free agency this offseason.
The Dodgers are interested in bringing back 34-year-old utility player Enrique Hernández this offseason, according to The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya and Katie Woo.

“Then there’s the looming possibility of the Dodgers re-signing Kiké Hernández,” Ardaya and Woo wrote Thursday. “The two sides are interested in a reunion, though that only further clogs some things up for the Dodgers’ bench plans going forward on paper.
“There’s a delicate balance the Dodgers will have to figure out next season. On one hand, they clearly have a championship core intact. On the other hand, they had the oldest position player group in the majors a year ago and a deep farm system of potential young contributors.”
Hernández is a three-time World Series champion in his second stint with the Dodgers. The 34-year-old played multiple positions for Los Angeles throughout the season, spending time in the outfield, first base, second base and third base.
Though the Dodgers may look to give some of their young prospects more time playing at the big-league level, Hernández’s versatility was incredibly useful, especially in the postseason. The 34-year-old has spent the majority of his career, and with Los Angeles looking to win a third-straight World Series next season, it makes sense that there is mutual interest in Hernández staying with the team.
