Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been in the crosshairs all season long, but never more than now after turning the ball over five times in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last Monday.
The Eagles have now lost three games in a row thanks much in part to their offensive ineptitude, and Hurts has been at the center of the criticism.

In fact, Hurts’ reputation has taken such a hard hit this year that some have even suggested that Philadelphia should entertain trading the Super Bowl champion during the offseason.
However, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports believes that the very idea of trading Hurts is nonsense and went as far to predict that the Eagles may decide to re-up with him again after the 2025 campaign.
“With all of that in mind, I don’t see [Howie] Roseman risking going back into a quarterback abyss just because there are problems right now with both Hurts and the Eagles’ offense,” Robinson wrote. “If anything, it’s more likely Roseman would work another extension with Hurts that could create some more salary cap space rather than trading him and throwing a grenade into his current cap table.”
Hurts signed a five-year, $255 million extension with Philadelphia back in April 2023, a deal that runs through 2028. The early returns on the contract were great, as the 27-year-old guided Philly to a championship last season. But now, many are beginning to seriously wonder about Hurts’ future with the Eagles.
The University of Oklahoma product has thrown for 2,754 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 64.7 percent of his passes and posting a 96.0 passer rating this season. He has also rushed for 337 yards and eight scores.
Hurts has never been an elite passer, but it seems like he is missing more receivers this year than any other season in the past, and it has resulted in A.J. Brown and, evidently, other players getting frustrated with him.

The Eagles are still in first place in the NFC East and will face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, so they have a great chance to start righting the ship this week.
But if Philadelphia’s collapse continues through the end of the season, the concern surrounding Hurts will continue to grow.
