Who Are Rob Reiner’s Children? Nick, Tracy, Jake and Romy
Rob Reiner, the acclaimed American actor and director known for landmark films such as The Princess Bride, Stand By Me and When Harry Met Sally, has left behind a family of four children following his and his wife—Michele Singer Reiner’s—tragic deaths on December 14, 2025, at their home in California.
What To Know
Rob Reiner was married twice and had a blended family of four children: Tracy, Jake, Nick and Romy. Reiner adopted Tracy, the biological daughter of his former wife, Penny Marshall. He then went on to have three biological children of his own—Jake, Nick, and Romy—with his second wife, Michele Singer Reiner.
Tracy Reiner—Aged 61
Adopted by Rob Reiner during his marriage to Marshall, Tracy, who was born in 1964, is Reiner’s eldest child. Tracy pursued a career as an actress and producer, credited in films such as When Harry Met Sally, A League of Their Own and Apollo 13. Although she was not Reiner’s biological daughter, she did occasionally make public appearances with him, and according to reporting by The Express Tribune, Reiner “consistently referred to Tracy as his daughter and remained closely involved in her life.”

Jake Reiner—Aged 34
Jake Reiner, who was born in 1991, is the eldest biological child of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner. He initially pursued a career in journalism—working as a reporter for Houston’s KPRC Channel 2. He also co‑hosts The Incline: Dodgers Podcast, which focuses on Los Angeles Dodgers baseball coverage. Reflecting on his career choice in the Houston Chronicle, he said he “just had a different passion, the passion for news.”
Nick Reiner—Aged 32
Born in 1993, Nick Reiner is the middle child of Rob and Michele. He’s previously openly discussed his struggles with drug addiction and periods of homelessness. He spent time in rehab and then went on to co-write a semi-autobiographical film called Being Charlie, which was based on his 17 visits to rehab, and was directed by his dad, Rob, in 2016.
Romy Reiner—Aged 28
Romy Reiner, born in 1997, is the youngest of the Reiner siblings and has sought a creative path as an actress, writer, producer and artist. On her Backstage profile, she describes herself as “an artist, writer, actress, and model,” and has made appearances in You People, Voices and Born Again Virgin.
What People Are Saying
Jake Reiner told the Houston Chronicle: “It wasn’t a rejection of what my father does or a rebellious thing. When I was in high school, I did a lot of theater, a lot of acting. I really enjoyed performing. I didn’t get into journalism to avoid being compared to my father.”
Nick Reiner told People: “I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas. I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun. Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family. But there was a lot of dark years there.”
Romy Reiner posted on Instagram: “Happy Father’s Day to the man who I could talk to forever and also the man who I can sit in silence with and be perfectly content. Love you forever. If this day is hard for you, remember that it’s just a Hallmark holiday.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom released an official statement saying: “Rob was the big-hearted genius behind so many of the classic stories we love, with projects as wide-ranging as ‘The Princess Bride’ to ‘A Few Good Men.’ His boundless empathy made his stories timeless, teaching generations how to see goodness and righteousness in others – and encouraging us to dream bigger.”
