WWE Announces Championship Rematch With Special Stipulation
WWE has revealed a big championship rematch has been booked, and there will be a stipulation to be determined. The top professional wrestling company posted a segment on social media that saw “SmackDown” general manager Nick Aldis make a proposal to the “suspended” Drew McIntyre. Aldis offered McIntyre an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes as long as he issues a public apology to referee Dan Engler for an unprovoked attack, as well as pays a hefty fine.
McIntyre countered by requesting that he pick the stipulation for the match. While McIntyre’s exact terms for the match weren’t revealed, Rhodes ended up attacking “The Scottish Warrior” outside of his home. A date for the match has not been announced.

Rivalry Between Rhodes and McIntyre
The feud between Rhodes and McIntyre can be traced back to the “Wrestlepalooza” buildup in late summer. McIntyre injured “The American Nightmare” in storyline by kicking his head into an announce table. Rhodes successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship at the aforementioned PLE.
Rhodes and McIntyre had a rematch at “Saturday Night’s Main Event” on Nov. 1. “The Scottish Warrior” cried foul when Rhodes landed a DDT onto his title, but McIntyre was the one who brought the gold into the ring. Their feud continued going into the men’s WarGames match at “Survivor Series 2025.” During an episode of “Friday Night SmackDown” ahead of the PLE, McIntyre ambushed Rhodes in his own tour bus.
McIntyre’s WarGames team ended up defeating Rhodes’ team when Bron Breakker pinned WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. After the match, WWE teased revisiting the rivalry between Rhodes and Roman Reigns. For now, “The American Nightmare” continues to stay focused on McIntyre.
