A few days before they begin their quest for the pinnacle of the sport in the College Football Playoff, Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide made a move to further their foundation and damage their archrival in the process.
In a two birds with one stone move, Alabama is set to sign Auburn Tigers offensive coordinator Derrick Nix to be their new wide receivers coach for the 2026 campaign.
Nix, who was the OC for Auburn the past two seasons, was previously an assistant head coach and the overseer of the wideouts room for Ole Miss.

Before coaching, Nix was a legend in college football as a player, earning Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors at Southern Miss in 1998, rushing for 1,180 yards and nine touchdowns. Although talented enough to make it to the NFL, health issues stemming from kidney disease forced Nix to cut his playing career short and move into coaching.
For Nix, it will be a homecoming from Attalla, Alabama, as he hopes to help Alabama reestablish itself as the powerhouse of college football. He will join one of the best wide receiver groups in the country, headlined by teenage phenom Ryan Williams.
The Crimson Tide will begin what they hope to be a long winter Playoff run this weekend, as they travel to Norman to play the Oklahoma Sooners on the road.
