Suspect Named in the Brown University Shooting After Five-Day Manhunt—Live Updates
The suspect in the weekend’s mass shooting at Brown University that killed two and injured nine has been found dead, according to police.
Rhode Island police have identified the suspect as Claudio Neves Valenti, 48, who was a Portuguese national with a last known address in Miami. He took his own life, authorities said.
The shooting Saturday at Brown killed two students and wounded nine others before the attacker fled.
About 50 miles away, MIT professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro was fatally shot at his home on Monday and died at a hospital on Tuesday. Authorities are investigating a possible connection between the Brown University attack and the killing of Loureiro, sources told the Associated Press on Thursday. There has been no further details on a potential link in the two shootings.
