Bills Issue Concerning Josh Allen Injury Update Before Eagles Game

The Buffalo Bills had a concerning moment on the field during their game on Sunday, December 21, against the Cleveland Browns, when quarterback Josh Allen excited the field with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

The incident happened in the second half of the game. Allen was in the Bills’ backfield and almost took a safety, with Myles Garrett on him. Allen fell and motioned to say that he had an ankle problem. He went into the locker room, but not the medical tent, which was a good sign, and he was cleared to return to the game.

But, the Buffalo Bills aren’t taking any chances. On Tuesday, December 23, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that Allen would miss practice time with the foot injury.

Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills.

“No real changes, today was just a chance to… see how he’s feeling today. Obviously sore,” McDermott said according to a report from Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News.

The fact that Allen is still “sore” isn’t great, and it’s a bit troubling going into a big game against the Eagles. But, the good news is that Allen is expected to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, December 28, according to McDermott.

“Yes, I’ll be planning on playing,” Allen said, regarding playing in the Eagles game. That’s great, but the word “planning” means it isn’t a given.

Buffalo clinched its seventh playoff spot in a row after the Indianapolis Colts’ loss on Monday, December 22, and also kept its slim bid to catch up to the AFC East-leading New England Patriots (12-3). To win the division title, according to NFL research, the Buffalo Bills need to win their final two games and the Patriots need to lose one of their final games.
