The San Francisco 49ers pushed their win streak to five games with Monday’s 48-27 win over 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts.
Quarterback Brock Purdy had a career day, posting 295 yards passing with five touchdowns and an interception.
Not only were the five touchdowns Purdy’s career-high, he also became the first 49ers QB to throw for five or more TDs on “Monday Night Football,” and the first since Steve Young in Super Bowl XXIX to throw five for or more scores.
And while the game was memorable for Purdy, it wasn’t so notable for one of the team’s top defensive stars.

Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir logged three tackles and allowed three catches on three targets for 45 yards, but it was what he did to Colts running back Jonathan Taylor that landed him in hot water with the NFL.
The league revealed its list of weekly fines on Saturday, and Lenoir was hit with an $11,593 penalty for a late hit on Taylor.

The incident happened in the third quarter after a Taylor run that yielded no gain. He was stopped by linebacker Tatum Bethune, and despite being ruled down by contact, Lenoir flew in and tried punching the ball away from Taylor.
His fist connected with the ball, but he also hit Taylor in the arm. He was flagged for unnecessary roughness and the Colts were given a first down. Though the play was inconsequential to the outcome as San Francisco ran away with a 21-point win.
