Lakers Trade Target Herb Jones Gets Final Injury Status
The New Orleans Pelicans landed positive injury news on their veteran wing, Herb Jones, ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
As he recovers from an ankle sprain, the Pelicans upgraded Jones to questionable for the clash. Jones hasn’t been seen on the court since December 22.
Will Herb Jones Face the Lakers on Tuesday?
After going through his usual pregame warmup routine with intentions of playing, Jones made it through without any issues. According to a report, Jones has landed clearance to play against the Lakers.
The Pelicans veteran hasn’t had consistent availability in quite some time. When the season started back in October, Jones appeared in the first 16 games. He missed eight games in a row before returning to the action on December 8.
All was going well with Jones, who appeared in six games, but he’s been back on the injury report, missing seven more games as a result of his ankle injury.
Returning against the Lakers served as an opportunity for LA to once again see an interesting trade target in action.

What’s the Latest on the Lakers’ Herb Jones Pursuit?
As expected players in the 2025 trade market, the Lakers have been linked to Jones for quite some time. The 27-year-old fits the mold for what the Lakers are looking for, which is a two-way wing.
However, the Lakers’ interest hasn’t translated to the Pelicans being willing to move on from Jones. In Marc Stein’s latest update regarding Jones, he notes that the Pelicans are “still resistant” to moving on from Jones or his teammate, Trey Murphy III.
The Lakers have an aggressive front office that has the ability to work miracles. After all, they landed Luka Doncic one year ago without anybody even knowing the Dallas Mavericks were willing to part ways with him. There aren’t many untouchables in the NBA.
Tuesday night could serve as an audition for Jones, helping the Lakers figure out just how aggressive they want to be when it’s time to get on the phone with the Pelicans.
In 22 games this season, Jones has made 40 percent of his shots from the field. His three-point percentage is at 34 percent off 4.1 shots per game. Jones is averaging 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
The Lakers and the Pelicans are slated for an 8 PM ET tip on Tuesday.
