Texas Announces Unexpected Team GPA Under Steve Sarkisian

The 2025 Texas Football Fall Semester GPA was announced Monday.

The Texas Longhorns football team made headlines off the field this spring after announcing on X (formerly Twitter) that the squad achieved a program‑record 3.31 GPA for the fall 2025 semester, highlighting its continued commitment to academic excellence.

In a post shared by the official Texas Football account, the program proudly celebrated the achievement, marking it as one of the highest academic milestones in recent team history. This announcement has been embraced by coaches, players and fans alike as a point of pride, demonstrating that success in the classroom can walk hand‑in‑hand with success on the field.

Sarkisian has been vocal in the past about academics being a priority. Essentially Sports has highlighted the poor academic performances Texas has shown in the past and the improvement they have made under Sarkisian.

When Sarkisian took the job at Texas, they had a 2.33 team GPA in 2021. In 2022, the GPA improved to 2.78 and in year three it improved to 2.98. By 2024, the Longhorns almost improved by almost a whole GPA point to a 3.27.
