The Seattle Seahawks’ defense ranked sixth in the NFL last season and led the franchise to a Super Bowl title earlier this month, and the unit could get even better before the 2026 campaign begins.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports authored a trade proposal on February 12 that would see the Seahawks deal the Nos. 32 and 64 overall picks in the upcoming draft to the Las Vegas Raiders for defensive end Maxx Crosby, who has grown disillusioned with that franchise following its decision to hold him out for the last two games of the season against his wishes.
“Boye Mafe is set to become a free agent this offseason, and if he departs, that would create a need,” Sullivan wrote. “Seeing what [head coach] Mike Macdonald could do with Crosby at his disposal — coming off a championship season in which Seattle ranked sixth in pressure rate despite primarily rushing four — would be borderline unfair.”

Seattle’s top two draft picks is a steep price to pay, particularly to improve a unit that is already arguably the best on its roster, including both sides of the football, and one of the top groups in the league.
But a healthy Crosby would enter the Seahawks’ locker room as far and away the most accomplished and talented pass-rusher there. He tallied 10 sacks and finished second in the league with 28 tackles for loss in 2025 in just 15 games played, trailing only Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns in that category.
Crosby has put up 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss over his seven-year career, which includes 110 games played and 104 starts. He has earned Pro Bowl honors five times and is under contract through 2029 after recently inking a three-year extension worth $106.5 million in total.
