Iran News Updates: U.S. Military Action Looms as Nuclear Talks End
Iran and the United States ended another tense round of indirect nuclear negotiations in Geneva without a breakthrough, deepening fears that the standoff could slide toward open conflict. Mediators from Oman described “significant progress,” but Tehran reiterated that it will continue enriching uranium and will not ship material abroad—two core U.S. demands.
Iranian officials said their position had been clearly communicated and that sanctions relief remains essential to any agreement. Washington, meanwhile, is pressing for strict limits on enrichment and wants Iran to address its missile program and support for regional armed groups, issues Tehran refuses to discuss.
Lower‑level technical talks are expected to resume next week in Vienna, where the International Atomic Energy Agency would play a central role in verifying any deal.
