Given how the 2025 season went, Philadelphia Eagles fans are desperate for any change on the offensive side of the ball.
The biggest move came when offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo was fired — something fans were clamoring for during the season.
The future of star wide receiver A.J. Brown is still up in the air — he could be traded at any point between now and the draft — and if he does end up elsewhere, the team will need a new weapon for quarterback Jalen Hurts to throw to.
That line of thinking is likely why ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. recently predicted the Eagles will take a pass-catcher in Round 1 of the 2026 draft, though he believes it will be uber-athletic tight end Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon.
“If Philadelphia doesn’t bring back free agent Dallas Goedert, it would be smart to draft a top-end replacement,” Kiper wrote. “Quarterback Jalen Hurts found Goedert for a team-high 11 receiving touchdowns last season, and he was the third-most-targeted pass catcher on the roster.
“In other words, Hurts likes throwing to his TE1. Sadiq had eight touchdown receptions last season, and he’s explosive and does a lot of damage after the catch. NFC defenses would have a tough time matching up with him because of his speed and 6-foot-3, 245-pound size.”
Sadiq posted 51 catches, 560 yards, and eight touchdowns for the Ducks this season.
He also ran a 4.39 time in the 40-yard dash at the combine this week — the fastest 40 for a tight end since at least 2003, according to NFL.com.
The Eagles’ passing attack ranked 23rd in the NFL last season, averaging just 194.3 yards per game. Adding a game-breaker like Sadiq gives Philly a wide receiver in a tight end’s body who will free up DeVonta Smith and Brown (if he isn’t traded) while also keeping Goedert more fresh later in the season.
