Eagles Have 2 Teams Emerging as AJ Brown Trade Partners
Rumors have swirled about the Philadelphia Eagles parting ways with wide receiver since last season, and it now appears they may have a short list of teams for a potential trade.
Brown, 28, won Super Bowl LIX with the team just a few seasons ago, but their follow-up season brought disappointment. Reports emerged that there were rumors the three-time Pro Bowl selection could be on his way out as the team tries to improve for next season.
During the offseason, speculation has fluctuated about Brown possibly sticking with the Eagles as his team after four seasons. Now, it’s looking like more of a possibility that he’ll join another contender as his third NFL team.

The Athletic’s Senior NFL insider, Dianna Russini, reported on Friday morning that the Eagles still have a “steep asking price” for Brown. According to her sources, the New England Patriots are interested, and the Los Angeles Chargers are another team “keeping tabs” on Brown.
Both teams would provide Brown with a fresh start and potential for career success. With New England, he joins a team fresh off a Super Bowl appearance under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel and young star quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye seems to be on the rise in terms of his abilities on the field, and the Patriots showed themselves as true contenders. Adding to the intrigue of that situation is that Vrabel previously coached Brown while they were both part of the Tennessee Titans for several seasons.
The Chargers, coached by veteran Jim Harbaugh, would add Brown as an explosive receiving threat for star quarterback Justin Herbert. While the team reached the NFL Playoffs, they’ve yet to fully make a stride with Herbert and Harbaugh.
They finished 11-6 last season and were second in the AFC West. Although they reached the playoffs, they lost in the Wild Card Round.
With Herbert, the team ranked about in the middle of the league’s teams in terms of passing, with an average of 212 yards per game. The Chargers had nearly over 3,600 passing yards and 26 touchdowns on 569 attempts last season. That said, Herbert plus Brown could become a dangerous combo.
As mentioned, Philadelphia’s asking price is high, with the team likely requiring a trade package that includes a first-round draft pick and more before they part ways with the star receiver.
