Eagles Trying to Re-Sign Jaelan Phillips Amid Jalen Carter Rumors: Report
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to make some significant deals to ensure they keep key members of their defense, although one could be on the move.
Recently, rumors have swirled around the two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who is expected to attract interest as teams look to make trades.
Carter has racked up 108 total tackles, 13.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles during his career, which began several seasons ago.
It included his participation in the team’s run to the Super Bowl, where they won the Lombardi Trophy, and reports indicate Philadelphia is receiving calls about their DT.

With that, the Eagles have a significant decision to make about extending Carter on a new deal, or potentially making a trade and addressing their roster deficiencies in the NFL Draft or through free agency.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Philadelphia is also attempting to re-sign edge Jaelan Phillips to a deal worth over $20M annually.
Phillips joined the league with the Miami Dolphins in 2021 and played for them up until halfway through last season. In November, Miami traded him to the Eagles for a 2026 third-round pick.
His NFL career includes 46 starts and 63 games played with 205 combined tackles, 28 sacks, and 32 tackles for losses. He also has one interception during his time in Miami, and participated in two playoff games between his seasons with Miami and Philly.
Meanwhile, Carter is entering the final year of a rookie contract and is eligible to get a projected extension of four years at $120 to $140 million. There was previous speculation that the team would make available, as part of an offer to the Raiders, another defensive star, Maxx Crosby.
However, the Raiders ultimately traded Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens, rather than the Eagles.
After joining Philadelphia as a rookie in 2023, Carter played 43 games and has started in 27. Along with his 108 combined tackles and 13.5 sacks, he has a fumble recovery for a touchdown in his rookie season, and of course, two Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl ring.
Philadelphia will have some major decisions to make as free agency arrives this Wednesday.
