Injury Updates on Cardinals’ Ivan Herrera, Ramon Urias

The St. Louis Cardinals are almost set for a new season. This time around, they will be focusing solely on their youth as they begin a rebuild under Chaim Bloom.

Unfortunately, they have been without a few players over the past week. Both Ivan Herrera and Ramon Urias are dealing with some injuries and have not played in almost a week.

On X, Derrick Goold reported the latest update on Herrera and Urias and the progress they have made since going down.

“A couple of Cardinals are nearing a week without appearing in a game, and their timetables for return should be clearer (Saturday),” Goold reported. “Ramon Urias (elbow), soreness while swinging, set to test soon. Ivan Herrera (knee), making progress, team said he’ll catch before leaving Florida.

Herrera made two trips to the injured list last season, one of which was knee related. Fortunately for the Cardinals, he appears to be making some good progress and should be back in action before spring training comes to an end.

Urias appears a little less certain, but he at least is going to swing the bat on Saturday and see where he is physically. He was the latest free agent signing by the Cardinals, joining the team on a one-year, $2 million contract.

Herrera could be an X-factor for the 2026 Cardinals. They need power from the right side in their lineup, and he currently brings that as a catcher and a designated hitter, so having him healthy could make a big difference for St. Louis this year.
