The WNBA season is still a couple of months away, but for the first time in a while, fans got to see Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark back on the court after a season-ending injury limited her to just 13 games last year.
Clark, along with WNBA stars like Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers, represented the United States in the women’s FIBA World Cup Qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico over the past week.
The U.S. team faced little resistance, finishing a dominant 5‑0 and closing out the tournament with a win over Spain on Tuesday. Clark recorded seven points, seven assists, one steal, and one block while playing staggered minutes.
She finished the tournament averaging 11.6 points and 6.4 assists per game, earning FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament MVP honors.
“MVP CC,” the Fever posted shortly after the news. “Congrats to Caitlin Clark on being named the MVP of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.”

“It was fun watching her again…still the best there is!!! really hope the season happens,” a fan said.

The exact start date for the WNBA season remains uncertain, as CBA negotiations are still ongoing—raising the possibility of a lockout in a worst-case scenario.
If the season does begin on schedule, fans can expect to see Clark back in full action around May 8. She’ll be entering her third season with the Fever after being drafted No. 1 overall out of Iowa in 2024.
