Chris Jericho Swerves WWE Fans, Returns on AEW Dynamite
After months of speculation, Chris Jericho is staying put in AEW. Online rumors had been swirling about Jericho’s professional wrestling future amid his absence from the Tony Khan-owned promotion. Some were led to believe that “Lionheart” was bound for a WWE return.
Reports just prior to Wednesday’s airing of “Dynamite” suggested that Jericho was being planned for an imminent return on AEW TV. That’s exactly what happened, as Jericho made his way out in front of a live crowd inside Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. Jericho entered the ring, grabbed the mic, and told fans that he’s “home.”

Y2J Has Some Catching Up to Do
Jericho had been off AEW TV just a few days shy of a full year. Prior to Wednesday, he was last seen during a promo segment with Big Bill and Bryan Keith. The three had been part of a faction, but Jericho informed them that he’d be going on hiatus. While Jericho said he’d check in on their progress when he returned, The Learning Tree has since disbanded.
It was Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer who noted prior to “Dynamite” that Jericho wasn’t expected to be back in a WWE ring anytime soon, if ever. Back in late 2025, Khan appeared on “The Ariel Helwani Show” and said that Jericho is as key as anyone in the launch of AEW, and he revealed that the door was open for “Y2J” to return, and he hoped to pull it off.
