Kim Hye-seong to Join Los Angeles Dodgers After Mookie Betts Injury
One Los Angeles Dodgers fan favorite is going to miss a few games, but it has opened the door for another Dodgers fan favorite to get his chance on the main roster after being cut from spring training on the final day.
Mookie Betts was feeling great to start the 2026 MLB season and hit a home run on Friday, but Saturday was a different story. After running the bases and scoring a run for what would be a one-sided win for L.A. over the Washington Nationals, the former MVP held up due to experiencing pain in his lower back.
Not taking any chances, Dave Roberts pulled him from the lineup and had Miguel Rojas take his spot.
Although Roberts said following the game that they believe Betts’ injury is “moderate instead of serious,” the team is expecting Betts to sit for at least the next few games as they continue their road trip in the nation’s capital before a rematch of the World Series in Toronto against the Blue Jays.

More news: What Would It Take the Los Angeles Dodgers to Trade for Paul Skenes?
While there was some speculation earlier in the day about whether the Dodgers would call up a player, it was confirmed during the Oklahoma City Comets’ game that someone from their minor league team was on his way to Washington.
Kim Hye-Seong, who had a wonderful spring training with the Dodgers and hit a moonshot home run in the World Baseball Classic for South Korea, will join the team for their series ender on Sunday, looking for the sweep against the Nationals.
Kim was supposed to be in the lineup of the red-hot Comets on Saturday, but he was a late scratch due to his being called up to the Dodgers.
So far this Comets season, Kim has continued his strong play from the spring, averaging .346 with an OPS of .823.
