WWE Hall of Famer Makes Shock Return, Added to WrestleMania 42 Title Match
We are two weeks away from WrestleMania 42, and although we have almost a full card of matches, there are still surprises left for fans on the road to the biggest two nights of the year for WWE.
On “Monday Night Raw” on Netflix, we saw more storylines advance towards the spectacle that is WrestleMania, with the show closing with the battle of the behemoths between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi.
But there might not have been a bigger shock of the night than what took place in the middle of the show, when a WWE Hall of Famer made their return to the ring when they were least expected to appear.
Rey Mysterio made his way back to the ring after months off television, with the prevailing belief that the legendary wrestler would be skipping WrestleMania 42 altogether.
The rumored program for Mysterio going into Mania was against the “Career Killer” Gunther, with the Austrian grappler looking to put to rest the legendary career of Mysterio.

Instead, Gunther will take on Seth Rollins, and Mysterio, surprising everyone, will take part in the Intercontinental title ladder match at WrestleMania, facing champion Penta, JD McDonagh, Je’Von Evans, and Rusev.
It will be his first WrestleMania match since two years ago in Philadelphia at WrestleMania 40, when he teamed with a returning Andrade to face his son, Dominik Mysterio, and Santos Escobar.
Mysterio was supposed to wrestle El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, but a freak injury on the “Friday Night SmackDown” before WrestleMania forced him to miss out on the biggest showcase of the year.
This will be Mysterio’s first title match at WrestleMania since 2019, when he faced off with U.S. champion Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 35.
