Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1,056 Clues, Hints and Answer for Friday May 10 Game
It’s finally the end of the working week, so don’t be frustrated if you need a bit of extra help with today’s Wordle.
The game was invented by New York-based software engineer Josh Wardle and requires players to identify a mystery five-letter word in six goes or fewer. There is a color-coded system that helps players along the way. If a correct letter is in the right place, the tile will go green. If it is in the wrong place, it turns yellow. If it is not in the word at all, the tile goes gray.
Wardle originally came up with the idea for the daily game to entertain his puzzle-loving partner and decided to make the game public in October 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wordle became such a hit that The New York Times purchased it in January 2022 for an undisclosed low seven-figure fee.
“I made something that I would like to exist on the internet,” Wardle told Time in 2022. “That was never the goal, really, to make money. The goal was to make a game that my partner would enjoy playing.”
One of the features of Wordle is you can only play it once a day. Wardle said he only wanted to deliver a single game daily because he has always been “wary of apps that want to consume all of your time.”

‘Wordle’ #1,056 Answer for Friday, May 10
The answer to today’s Wordle is “Media.”
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the noun “Media” is “often attributive” and is defined as “singular or plural in construction: MASS MEDIA” and “a medium of cultivation, conveyance, or expression.”
Congratulations if you got the answer right but if you didn’t, there is no need to worry. Wardle previously told Newsweek that he usually needs four or five attempts before getting it right.
“[My partner] and I play it on the couch together each morning,” he said. “She will consistently get it in three goes, which is way, way better than I can ever hope to achieve. I normally need at least four or five attempts.”
Wordle is released at midnight in your local time zone. Newsweek will be back with another round of hints and tips for each new game.
While you wait for the next game, why not give the geography guessing game Worldle or other word puzzles such as Typochondria a try?
