Aaron Rodgers Gets Strong Endorsement From Mike Tomlin After Steelers Loss

After losses in three of their last four games, the Pittsburgh Steelers sit just one game above the Baltimore Ravens atop the AFC North standings. Despite this, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin reaffirmed his belief in Aaron Rodgers under center moving forward on Tuesday.

Rodgers played arguably his worst game of the season on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, throwing for just 161 passing yards with two costly interceptions in their 25-10 loss.

Mike Tomlin voiced his frustration after the game, which was directed at Rodgers and the Steelers offense as a whole. However, after a day to simmer after the loss, Tomlin made it clear that he remains confident in Rodgers’ abilities going into their Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“I’m not going to chalk it up to an ‘off’ night, but there are no long-term concerns,” said Tomlin on Rodgers’ play in Week 10. “Sunday night was what it was, but I have no long-term reservations about his ability to play the position and play the position at a high level.”

Rodgers has had some true bright spots this season with the Steelers. In particular, Rodgers was steady in wins over two AFC contenders, the New England Patriots in Week 3, and the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9.

That being said, things have frequently gone sideways for Rodgers, with three games with multiple interceptions thus far this year. Not to mention the fact that the Steelers have a bottom-five offense in yards per game thus far.

Notably, one of those multi-turnover games came against the Bengals in a losing effort in Week 7. So it will certainly be interesting to see whether Rodgers can right the ship and help stop the downward trajectory of the Steelers in Week 11.
