Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer Sends Clear Message on Michigan Job
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the links connecting him to the Michigan Wolverines job that opened up following Sherrone Moore’s departure.
DeBoer, who has taken over the Alabama Crimson Tide program following legendary head coach Nick Saban, is in the middle of his second season and has the Tide back in the College Football Playoffs.

He is preparing for the Oklahoma Sooners on Friday in the first round of the postseason. However, the rumor mill has pegged him as a candidate for the Michigan head coaching job, which opened late in the coaching carousel.
Considering how early he is in his tenure at Alabama, it seemed that DeBoer’s leaving was a long shot, and with his most recent statement, he looks to be staying in Tuscaloosa.

“I have not spoken and have no interest in speaking with anyone else about any other job,” DeBoer said through the Yea Alabama collective.
“I am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as the head football coach at the University of Alabama.”
Alabama is one of the largest schools in the nation, receiving significant investment and national attention as an SEC powerhouse.
Fewer jobs can rival those in Tuscaloosa, though Michigan offers its own set of benefits, and it could be a better fit for a coach than the pressure at Alabama.

For the time being, DeBoer seems settled in Alabama and has the support of the entire program.
“We are proud to have Coach DeBoer leading our football program at The University of Alabama. He is an incredible coach and does an excellent job with the development of our student-athletes, both on and off the field,” Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said.
“Just as he is committed to this team, we are committed to him, and we look forward to taking the field Friday in the first round of the College Football Playoff.”
The Michigan job is hardly the first time that DeBoer has been linked to another job. When Penn State was deep into its coaching search, he was floated as a potential candidate, though he shot down that rumor before the SEC Championship game.
“There’s never been any link,” DeBoer said. “There’s never been any conversation. There’s never been any interest either way. And I’m so glad we can put that to bed right now.”
